Mara Dyer doesn't think life can get any stranger than waking up in a hospital with no memory of how she got there.
It can.
She believes there must be more to the accident she can't remember that killed her friends and left her mysteriously unharmed.
There is.
She doesn't believe that after everything she's been through, she can fall in love.
She's wrong.
From Goodreads
The Unbecoming of Mara
Dyer is a book that had me gasping out in word bubbles. Something like
this, “What the #!#@$!$???” happened numerous times while I read this book. All
good, of course. I just couldn’t figure out anything from anything. To say I’m
already in need of book two is an understatement. I’ll be re-reading this one
over and over just to get my fix in.
From mystery, romance, and suspense, Mara Dyer’s story came
to life in front of my eyes. Once I started reading I couldn’t stop. Michelle
Hodkin, with her debut no less, wrote an incredibly mysterious and (sizzling off
the pages) sexy book. The two lead characters Mara and Noah have insane
chemistry. Like WOAH kind of chemistry. I bought. I ate it. I want more of it.
Mara and Noah are going down as one of my favorite book couples! Best part (I
know, there is even more good stuff to gush about) is that both Mara and Noah
are believable. In the midst of all the crazy mystery going on, both of these
characters came off as real people. Their stories didn’t make me pause and
think “Yeah, sure!” instead I thought “What the fudge?! Oh. It’ll all be
explained later.” So, it did make me think about it… but only because I couldn’t
wait to see just what was happening and who Mara Dyer REALLY is.
Because I’ve heard that the finished copy is different from
the ARC I read, I’m going to leave this review right here. Just know that my
hands will soon be on a finished copy; and I will be devouring all the new
details that Hodkin wrote in. The
Unbecoming of Mara Dyer is beyond this world good. I rated it a 5, yet I
wish I could give it more. It’s written beautifully and with a great sense of
humor. I chuckled a lot during this one. Michelle Hodkin is a force to be reckoned
with!
Final thought: Go. Buy. This. Book! Love it like I do; and
fall for Noah McHottyAcent Shaw!
