Monday's Music Musette [4]: Florence + the Machine

How about starting your week off with great music? This weekly feature, created by me, is a way to showcase my favorite music artists and bands. From new releases to kicking it old school. All music is represented here! Instead of posting songs, I'm showcasing entire albums that rock from the first track to the last. Below is my pick for album of the week. And yes, I still call them albums. That's what the cool cats say!

Today's recommendation is: Ceremonials by Florence + the Machine. Released on November 1, 2011. If you don't follow me on Twitter, or this blog, very much... then you may not know that I'm a HUGE Florence + the Machine fan. I've been waiting for her new album to come out for months!

This album has a few standouts, and a few not-so-standouts. Overall, I think Ceremonials is a great work of art. Florence + the Machine is a machine in the music industry. Pushing boundaries and never afraid to experiment with sounds and lyrics. Some of the lyrics are down right depressing, yet expression is amazing. Haunting, beautiful, fun, uplifting, and even more. Another hit after one of my favorite albums, Lungs.

What The Water Gave Me is my favorite song on this album. Even though Shake It Out is a CLOSE second. I first heard What The Water Gave Me a while back, and immediately fell in love with it. This song is what had me counting down the days until Ceremonials was released. Everything about it is great. The music, the lyrics, the heart. There's something unique and powerful in the way Florence sings. She becomes her music and it's amazing to listen to... and to see in her music videos. I'm dying to see her in concert!

I'm a huge fan of the books and movies, so every Twilight related topic I have to talk about will fall under this feature. Even though I vowed to never write a review of these books, I'm not opposed to sharing my opinions or defending the franchise I love. Another Thursday is upon us, which means it's time for my Twilight Thursday post. This week I'm picking one of my favorite songs from the Eclipse soundtrack. Heavy In Your Arms by Florence + The Machine. This song never made it into the movie. It only played in the credits. I remember listening to the soundtrack weeks before Eclipse came out and wondering where they'd use this song. I was really disappointed that it was only used in the credits.

This is an amazing YouTube video I found. It combines a bunch of scenes from all the movies!!!

Confession time: I'm a huge fan of Florence + the Machine. If you didn't already know that. I believe this song would have been great in the movie, but like Linkin Park's Leave Out All the Rest, Heavy In Your Arms fits the movie great. We can only be happy that it's the perfect song to close this great movie!

Pssst: I love how I picked this song just two days after Florence + The Machine's new album "Ceremonials" came out. If you don't know her music very well, you should. She's a genius!

P.s. Two weeks away from the big marathon event. I'm getting more excited with each passing day. I'm nearing the end of Breaking Dawn (the book) and I cannot wait to see how they translate this book to screen. From the previews, I can see that some of my favorite scenes have made the movie. I found a few smaller ones that I would just love to see in the movie. Fingers crossed.
