How about starting your week off with great music? This weekly feature, created by me, is a way to showcase my favorite music artists and bands. From new releases to kicking it old school. And yes, I still call them albums. That's what the cool cats say!

Today's recommendation is: Ceremonials by Florence + the Machine. Released on November 1, 2011. If you don't follow me on Twitter, or this blog, very much... then you may not know that I'm a HUGE Florence + the Machine fan. I've been waiting for her new album to come out for months!

Preview Ceremonials on iTunes

This album has a few standouts, and a few not-so-standouts. Overall, I think Ceremonials is a great work of art. Florence + the Machine is a machine in the music industry. Pushing boundaries and never afraid to experiment with sounds and lyrics. Some of the lyrics are down right depressing, yet expression is amazing. Haunting, beautiful, fun, uplifting, and even more. Another hit after one of my favorite albums, Lungs.

The Ultimate List:
  • The ultimate throw-back song: Breaking Down
  • The ultimate point I fell in love with this album song: What the Water Gave Me
  • The ultimate inspiring song: Shake It Out
  • The ultimate depressingly beautiful song: Never Let Me Go
  • The ultimate clap along to song: Lover To Lover
  • The ultimate creepy music song: Seven Devils
  • The ultimate BEST song: What The Water Gave Me

What The Water Gave Me is my favorite song on this album. Even though Shake It Out is a CLOSE second. I first heard What The Water Gave Me a while back, and immediately fell in love with it. This song is what had me counting down the days until Ceremonials was released. Everything about it is great. The music, the lyrics, the heart. There's something unique and powerful in the way Florence sings. She becomes her music and it's amazing to listen to... and to see in her music videos. I'm dying to see her in concert!

Here's a YouTube video of Florence + the Machine singing What The Water Gave Me

I hope you guys love this song, and the entire Ceremonials album as much as I do. Try to check out her other stuff, too!

Twilight Thursday [5]

"I love you. It's a poor excuse for what I'm doing, but it's still true." Edward Cullen, Twilight, p. 366
Twilight Thursday is a feature I created to share my love of all things Twilight. I'm a huge fan of the books and movies, so every Twilight related topic I have to talk about will fall under this feature. Even though I vowed to never write a review of these books, I'm not opposed to sharing my opinions or defending the franchise I love. For any questions, comments, etc., about this feature or Twilight, feel free to leave a comment or email. I'm up for any/all Twi-Convos! This feature is not likely to be weekly.

Disclaimer: This feature is directed at Twilight fans. Whether you're a fan of the books and movies; or just the books; or just the movies... Twilight Thursday is a place for friendly conversation. Me, being such a big Twi-Hard, will be greatly offended if anyone leaves negative and hurtful comments in regards to any part of the Twilight franchise. Please be nice! Also, all posts will most likely contain spoilers. Please do not read anything written under the Twilight Thursday feature if you do not want anything spoiled. You've been warned

Another Thursday is upon us, which means it's time for my Twilight Thursday post. This week I'm picking one of my favorite songs from the Eclipse soundtrack. Heavy In Your Arms by Florence + The Machine. This song never made it into the movie. It only played in the credits. I remember listening to the soundtrack weeks before Eclipse came out and wondering where they'd use this song. I was really disappointed that it was only used in the credits.

This is an amazing YouTube video I found. It combines a bunch of scenes from all the movies!!!

Confession time: I'm a huge fan of Florence + the Machine. If you didn't already know that. I believe this song would have been great in the movie, but like Linkin Park's Leave Out All the Rest, Heavy In Your Arms fits the movie great. We can only be happy that it's the perfect song to close this great movie!

Pssst: I love how I picked this song just two days after Florence + The Machine's new album "Ceremonials" came out. If you don't know her music very well, you should. She's a genius!

Finally, the schedule for the rest of the Twilight Thursdays: Soundtrack Edition is below.

Oct 6  & Oct 13th: Songs from Twilight
Oct 20th & Oct 27th: Songs from New Moon
Nov 3rd, Nov 10th, & Nov 17th: Songs from Eclipse
Nov 24th [tentative]: Songs from Breaking Dawn 1

P.s. Two weeks away from the big marathon event. I'm getting more excited with each passing day. I'm nearing the end of Breaking Dawn (the book) and I cannot wait to see how they translate this book to screen. From the previews, I can see that some of my favorite scenes have made the movie. I found a few smaller ones that I would just love to see in the movie. Fingers crossed.
