"If music be the food of love, play on." - William Shakespeare
How about starting your week off with great music? This weekly feature, created by me, is a way to showcase my favorite music artists and bands. From new releases to kicking it old school. All music is represented here! Instead of posting songs, I'm showcasing entire albums that rock from the first track to the last. Below is my pick for album of the week. And yes, I still call them albums. That's what the cool cats say!
Today's recommendation is: Birdy by Birdy. Released on November 4, 2011.
Birdy's eponymous debut is ALL covers.... well, except the track: Without A Word, which she penned herself. My nephew introduced me to her music earlier this year, but I didn't pay much attention. It wasn't until she appeared on The Hunger Games' soundtrack where I took notice. It's safe to say that I'm a fan.
My only complaint is that since this album is mostly covers, it's hard to see what Birdy's 'real' music would be... lyrically... however, her haunting re-mastered covers are simply amazing. My favorite being Terrible Love. It's probably my favorite song right now. Period.
